Oh, I'm so sorry to hear you had a tragedy at school! You're right, it does make one shakier. How are your kids doing?
The young man who died here on Thursday was a law student. He was in three of my classes and his roommate is in my study group. He was a nice, nice, personable guy who would have made an outstanding and humane lawyer. We're hoping that it was an accident, and not a suicide, but we'll probably never know. His roommate wrote a terrific essay about how the best way to honor Tim's memory was to define him not by the manner of his death, but rather of the example of his life.
Enough digressing. Thanks again for keeping me in the loop. I will cross fingers that Gustav conks out before it hits New Orleans. (Jeez, this might be the first time I hope a Republican convention goes off without a hitch...)
I have just sent friend requests to Deb and Grace, and will keep up with the appropriate media outlets as much as I can. That said, I'm not as plugged in this weekend as I usually am. Our cable/internet service won't be hooked up till Wednesday. I'm in the coffee bar now, using their free wireless, but I can only get over here in fits and starts. But everything I can do, every person I can inform and every can I can shake, will be done/informed/shaken.
